Thirst

I've been reading Christopher Pike's Thirst (no 1 and 2). The series started out good but as I contine reading each book in the series the story lines gets stupider. The series is about a 5000 year old vampire who only kills to keep her secret from circulation. Alysa believes she is the last vampire on earth. She kills a private detective who was trying to black mail her then fell in love with his 17 year old son Ray. Ray was forced into leaving his life behind because Alysa was afraid that who ever was after her would go after him as well. It turns out that person who is after them is a vampire. The same vampire who forced Alysa (Sita) away from her husband and infant daughter and turned her into a vampire, Yaksha. Yaksha forces Alysa (Sita) to turn Ray into a vampire to save his life from a deadly fall Yaksha forced him to indure. In the end as Ray and Alysa try to escape with their lives from an exploation, Yaksha throws a stake into Alysa's back, right through her heart. In the end Yaksha dies, Ray is alive and Alysa barely survives. From there on the story gets weirder and crazier. Turns out Yaksha didn't die and then Ray dies. Alysa is forced to turn an FBI agent Joel to save him from certain death only to have him killed off. Then Alyssa runs into an ex-boyfriend from 500 years ago who at first she doesnt recognize. He dies in an exploation with Joel. Alysa then returns to the Las Vegas home of her ex and using his experiments, she turns herself into a human. From there she gets help from her friend Seymore, whom she used her vampire blood to save him from AIDS. She is forced to kill two men who try to rape and kill her on the beach. She goes to a coffee shop where Ray walks through the door, human Ray. Alysa is shocked but happy to see him. They go into hiding in a LA suburb where 6 months later she finds out she is pregnant and meets a new friend, who is also pregnant. Alysa's pregnancy only last around a week until she gives birth to a baby girl she names Kalika. Kalika reached full grown adult in two weeks time. Kalika is more than a vampire or human. Kalika goes after Alysa's friends baby. Alysa does everything she can to save them. She gives her firend money and tells her to leave and not tell her where she is going. Then Alysa goes back to Las Vegas to turn herself back into a vampire and sees a picture of her and her ex sitting on the counter. Realization hits her. Kalika looks nothing like Ray, but everything like Arturo. Ray is waiting for her and she realizes the reasons Ray never leaves the house, never meets her friends. Ray is a figment of her human imagination invoked from the trauma she suffered as a human having to suffer from killing two men who tried to rape her. She conquers her fear and turns herself back into a vampire and goes after her daughter who is trying to kill her friends baby. You see why the story line looses people? Its so irratic. He's dead, shes'd dead, oh wait he's not dead. Oh yes he is dead. How many times can someone die and come back? All I know for sure is that I have to finish the story out and read the last book in the series. Hopefully this book will explain all the mysteries the others held. If you like mystery, these book holds alot of mystery to them. You never know whats going to pop up around the corner or whos going to show up again. As far as vampire books go, its not as great or as good as so many others out there. That would be the reason as to why Im on the fence about suggesting this book to anyone. All I can do is give my opinion and let others decide for themselves. Keep in mind that this is only my opinion of the books and that everyone has the right to their own opinions.
