Vicious Jungle

Jobs are scarce and the competition is at its all time high. It’s like a jungle out there. Fighting for survival. Fighting to stand out from the crowd. It’s hard to stand out from the crowd on a piece of paper but it essential and necessary. Most places only accept applications via an online source. You have to fill out their electronic application, attach your electronic resume and take their electronic quiz. Everything is done through the internet and very impersonal.
It’s a vicious world out there. I’ve been searching for a job for around 6 months to a year now. Out of all the applications I’ve filled out I’ve only gotten through to one phone interview. It’s not that I don’t have good work experience because I’m versed in several fields. I believe the problem lies within the electronic process. You have to pass their electronic personality test before your application is even viewed by a real live human being.
The whole process of finding a job has left me stressed, emotionally and physically drained, and just plain angry. You take the time to go through their process of applying for a job just to be sent an email stating that they’ve received numerous applicants and their sorry but at this time you’re not qualified. They don’t even care about your work experience, they only seem to care about what type of personality you are. Are you the analytical type? Are you passive aggressive? You skills mean nothing.
I’ve been scouring the job boards every other day. Spending hours at a time searching and applying just to be rejected or even gone unnoticed. All I’m asking for is a chance. A chance to prove myself. I’m an excellent worker. I do not leave jobs undone, in fact it bothers me who leave a job unfinished. I love working with people, other associated and customers alike. I can deal with the stress and the angry customers. I was a returns cashier during the peek returns time of year, after Christmas. You’ve never seen an angry customer until you have to tell them that you cannot return their child’s Christmas gift because they do not have a receipt. Or that you that you cannot return their measure cost because they didn’t like the several designs that you spend hours working on.
No I don’t think every body is out to get me. I don’t believe every customer out there is going to steal. Maybe that’s where the problem lies. On the personality quiz I always answer that I do not believe that every customer is going to steal. There is no section of the quiz where you can input things like “No I do not believe every customer is going to steal, but I do believe everyone has the potential”. Or “No I do not believe everyone steal little things like pens from their employers but I do believe that it does happen and that some people do believe that they have the right to take those things even though I do not believe they do”.
It’s hard to sit here and wait patiently for that big break when someone takes the chance and hires you. I’m not an impatient person but when it comes down to weather or not I’ll be able to afford diapers for my child then yes I will be impatient. I’ve already weighted out what matters the most, where my priorities are. I love that I’ve had the luxury of being a stay-at-home mom, but it’s time that I return to work. Bills need to be paid. Diapers need to be bought. There are just some things that mean more than others.
I’m not being picky about looking for a job. I’m applying anywhere and everywhere. I also believe there is a secondary problem. Something that employers most likely see as a flaw in my resume. The fact that I have been unemployed for the last two years because I’ve chosen to be a stay-at-home mom. Employers don’t care if your doing the right thing for your family. They want to see a consecutive work background with no empty spaces and no firings.
I’ve never been fired. I’ve always worked hard. I could just be thinking that these are the problems in my job search. All I know is that I’m at my wits end and I’m praying that I get a break soon. With neither me nor my husband working, things are tough. Too tough for me. It’s a vicious world out there and I’m fighting my way through this jungle called a job search.

Censorship

I've recently found myself annoyed by how bad censorship has gotten. It seems to be horrid on social networks. On Facebook I was blocked from posting or sending any messages that included the website 4shared.com I mean seriously! It's a website that allows people to upload files and share them with friends, family or just the whole virtual world. Why should that be blocked content? I personally do not think that its acceptable for Facebook to block out such sites yet allows people to post youtibe videos titled "The Dick Towl". I think that Facebook needs to step back and re-evaluate their standards. I would cancel my account with them except that MySpace has become so crappy that I dont even log into my account there anymore.

Dell Axim X5

When looking for a ebook reader I did extensive research. Normal "Ebook readers" were really expensive and only read ebooks. And most ebook readers didn't have a backlight screen making it impossible to read in the dark without a book light. I came across the Axim on ebay and researched the product before purchasing. I bought it back in December of 2009 and have been thrilled with it every since it came in the mail. I downloaded Acrobat Reader 1.0 to read my ebooks. I personally didnt care if they showed up with pictures on a nice virtual shelf. I mainly use my Axim as an ebook reader but have downloaded a few games on it as well. My big mistake was letting my husband know I had downloaded the games on it because he continually took my Axim to play with. :)The best part of this item was that I bought it on ebau used for only $20! Yep not the msrp of $299.99 but only $20!!! Ive deffinately gotten my moneys worth and more! This item is also available at Amazon.com starting at $39.90 used and $139.99 refurbished.

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

I finished reading Spirit Bound a few days ago. Spirit Bound is part of a series by Richelle Mead called 'The Vampire Academy'. The series follows a guardian in training Rosemary Hathaway and her best friend a Moroi named Vassilissa Dragamir. Guadrians are expected to train and when they completle their training and schooling at age eighteen, they are expected to become a guardian. A guardian's purpose is to protect the Moroi from attackers, the strogoi. Strogoi are full fledged vampires who hunt and suck people try of their blood. They are very fast, lethal and have red rimmed eyes. Moroi are also a type of vampire, only they dont kill or drain for blood. Moroi get their blood from feeders and take very small amounts. To become a strogoi you must take mass quantities of blood. Guardians are made up of Damphir's. Damphir's have one Moroi parent, who is usualy male and who they don't normally have any knowledge of, and one Damphir parent, who is usually the female. Damphir's cannot concievce with another Damphir, they are serile when together. Richelle Mead put alot of technical thought behind this series, which can be hard to follow at first but was brilliant on her part. Rose is what they consider a trouble maker. Everything she does seems to be a black mark in her record lessing her chance at becomming Lissa's guardian. There are so many obstacles in these book that both Rose and Lissa have to overcome and defeat. Spirit Bound has the most, by far, that both girls and their friends have to overcome. Rose being the bad ass guardian in waiting that she is, got the highest scores on the guardian trials that all damphirs have to pass before graduating, but the black mark of her attitude and behavior keep her futire up in the air. Running off with Lissa and breaking into Taracov, a very high security Moroi/Damphir prision and breaking out a known criminal just for information on something they consider impossible would land Rose in prision for high treason if anyone found out also doesn't help her future. The whole operation is kept hush hush for fear that someone would find out what they did. Busting out a criminal seems to be the last of her worries when the Queen is murdered and Rose is set up. Arrested for high treason of the murder of the Queen, Rose's Moroi father shows up and acts as her lawyer in order to save her. The only problem is that is where the book ends. Spirit Bound is an excelent book that kept me wanting more of the story. Unfortunatly for me and other readers who were just as into it as I was, the next book in the series doesn't get released until December 7th 2010. You can bet this book-a-holic will be online purchasing her copy of the ebook as soon as the book is released.
